This is a 3 star cup or one of the many turned to be very special cups. There are light flakes or crystals with light blue glass like bottom glaze and also outside bottom glaze edge. This colouring is all natural and it is seen or rather formed on few pieces only in the whole kiln where hundreds of pieces are fired at one time. Jiri Duchek calls these cups “cups with a short skirt”.
I tested drinking tea out of this cup and feels like to me the one of the most tasty cup’s experience.
This cup is made with a celadon glaze. The clay contains a bit of locally sourced kaolin clay which is used for porcelain, the same as used for rye teapots.
