Name:
Duchek’s muddy cup #0353
Content of the cup:
200 ml, upper diameter 13,7 cm
About:
A cup that content is above about 2/3 as I assume one would not fill it up. Captivating inside pattern and outside is as like painted. All a work of fire, clay, mud and the potter.
It is glazed in so called ‘muddy clay or just simply in mud’, the dry ceramic slip is soaked for a second in such a mud and after firing gets various colours. This piece is wide open and can even be used as small chawan for matcha preparation.
The cup is photographed on a piece of stone sheet from a local church where the last photo is taken. The roof was changed recently and there were dumped many of these black stone slates.
Each piece of a batch of ceramics made in 2021 will have one additional photo. These images are taken during a visit of Jiri Duchek from its surrounding, nature, simply places where he lives and creates his pieces.
A shot from a tea session with Jiri Duchek in a village where local potters lived, also a village where Franz Kafka spent a few months of his life.
