Hisao Iwashimizu is that rare breed of craftsman whose skill at his craft is matched by his keen design sensibility. He creates works that while understated and minimalist in form, have rich textures and beautiful curves.
Raised in an ironware family, Hisao Iwashimizu earned a degree in law, followed by a stint in a branding company before returning to his roots in Iwate, long famous for cast iron.
He founded his cast iron workshop, Kukan Chuzo, in 2009.
