this tea maocha nicely fitted my today’s selection, it came just after 2023 PSG bing, the maocha consists some part of the same tea as PSZ and comes with other 2 Veian’s tea gardens.
the taste is more rounded that is made by its ageing that also gives ‘oldish’ notes and more like sweet ripe fruit flavours, it takes some brews to wake up but then the thicker soup is full of character, woody notes with unique flavour that seems to be special for this 2016 spring, it is so nice to have each spring its facets…
I thought to include the thai teas selection gushu maochas from years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Some were pressed into cakes, like 2016 into Lao Cha cakes, 2017 into MANY FACES cakes and 2016 and 2019 are blended with mind/switich 2022 into Grand Reserva cake.
They all four come from the Veian’s gushu ancient tea tree gardens. They were kept in Veian’s storage for the previous years. His place is located in a mountain village so the humidity is just right and the tea was not moved around.
You may were well see the progress and variability of each season tasting them one by one. Also great to compare them to the fresh ones from 2022 and 2023.
